In August 2013, I took the opportunity to head off to Queenstown in Southland, New Zealand for a few days of skiing. Unfortunately Winter 2013 was not the best of ski seasons in NZ. Good snow was only present on the higher peaks of Cardrona ski field (near Wanaka) which is a 90 minute drive from Queenstown. Anyway the weekend was pleasant enough and allowed me to become acquainted with Queenstown again (as I had not visited the area for many years). The photos below show the scenery around Queenstown which is located on the shores of Lake Wakatipu.
